Gerald S. Mort Obituary

Gerald S. “Ged” Mort, 73, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Mercy House of Chambersburg. Born May 10, 1950 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph Fred and Donna May Sheffield Mort.


Ged was a 1969 graduate of Fannett-Metal High School. A US Navy veteran, he served honorably during the Vietnam War. Ged was employed as a Warranty Mechanic with Mack Truck for over 30 years until his retirement. He was previously employed at CV Diesel as a mechanic and also was the owner/operator of G&C Small Engine Repair. Ged enjoyed cooking, having picnics, hunting and fishing. A skilled mechanic, he also enjoyed working on vehicles and small engines.


He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cynthia Ann Perry Mort, whom he married on February 4, 1972; his son, Robert D. Mort (wife Lisa) of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Emily and Aaron Mort of Chambersburg; brother-in-law, Jeffery Perry (wife Janice) of Chambersburg; and his nephew, Keeley Perry (Jessica Cooksey) of Fayetteville.


Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
