Claire D. (Paquin) Ignacio, age 92, a resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.


She was born in Lowell on December 20, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Romeo Paquin and Alice (Lefebvre) (Paquin) Grenier. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Albert Grenier.


Claire graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1949, where she was a 2nd. Lieutenant in the Girls' Regiment. She stayed active with her alumni and served on the committee for class reunions since graduation.


Claire enjoyed fishing, fly tying, hunting, writing, crocheting, and stained glass. She collected Elvis memorabilia since 1956, which encouraged her 14 trips to Graceland. She loved to travel to Newfound Lake where Claire and George built a second home for their family to enjoy. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends was always welcome "Up to the Camp". She enjoyed bird watching and knew all the species. She loved to play canasta, scat, and scrabble. Reading a book and watching Family Feud became her pastime. She was the first cashier for Demoulas and was always proud to tell that story. Claire and George then became business owners of Dracut Drywall where hard work paid off. She also worked for Ignacio’s Pitch and Hit, and Plomaritis Chiropractic Office in Pelham NH. Her final job was at Bridgewood Family Chiropractic in Dracut where she greeted her patients until the age of 85. She was a mother, spouse, friend and all who knew her loved her. She belonged to many organizations including the New England Outdoor Writers Association, and the Greater Lowell Fly Fishers Inc where she was treasurer for 16 years. She was the author of 8 books of which her 3rd book, "An Elvis Fan Writes from the Heart", was based on her passion for Elvis and all proceeds are donated to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis TN. Her writing talents also included many articles in the local papers, such as Reminisce Magazine, Lowell Sun, American Power Boat Association, Dracut Dispatch, and Merrimack Journal. She sparked conversation wherever she went. She was also involved with Thunder in The Valley power boat racing.


Claire is survived by her children, Warren Ignacio of Dracut, and George Ignacio and his wife Katherine of Dracut, Maureen Souza of Lowell, Gail Jacques and her husband David of Groton NH, and Susan Ignacio of Kittery ME; her son-in law, Peter Beaulieu of Dracut; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Ignacio and his wife Roxanne, Timmothy Ignacio and his wife Nikki, Jennifer Souza, Elizabeth Hanegan and her husband Shawn, Daniel Ignacio, Alissa Cunningham and her husband John, Keith Bettencourt, Noel Beaulieu, Kylene Pedraza and her husband Cris, and Abby Beaulieu; her 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves lifelong friends, Richard Pereira, Dr. Al Maalouf, Dr.Titus Plomaritis, Joey Beausoleil, and Jan Dulemba.


She is predeceased by her granddaughter, Natalie Souza; her siblings Alice Grenier, Doris Tatro, Lorraine Stanley, and Albert Grenier; and her former husband, George Ignacio.


Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 12:30 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
