Jack Provenzano Obituary

Jack Provenzano, a devoted husband, loving father & grandfather and a cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his home in Somers, surrounded by his family.

Born on October 19, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Jack was the son of Salvatore and Marie Provenzano. He spent his formative years in New York City and served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. While in the Navy, Jack met and married the love of his life Anita Hartmann. After his Honorable Service, Jack settled in Long Island before eventually making Somers his home in 1974.

Jack spent his career as a Production Manager at Deutsch Relays on LI and then at Hi-G & Tyco Industries in CT, until his well-deserved retirement. Beyond his professional endeavors, Jack was a devout Catholic, deeply religious and spiritual, finding solace and purpose in his faith. He extended his compassion to others through his involvement in Prison Ministry, embodying humility and kindness in all aspects of his life.

Jack was a humble man of few word but boundless love for his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Anita Hartmann for nearly 50 years until her passing in 2003. Jack later found love again with Jean Makar and married in 2008 with whom he shared final years of happiness.

Jack's legacy of love and devotion lives on through his four children: Jack and Kathy Provenzano of Enfield, Steven and Cheryl Provenzano of Chicopee, Diane Provenzano and her husband, Leo Leone of Somers, and Lisa and Michael Marandino of Tolland. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Karayeanes, and her husband Charles of Long Island, NY, along with 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and his extended family through Jean, including her sons John, Kevin, Joe, and Nicholas Makar and their families. Jack was predeceased by his sister Mae Guida.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Jack's life on Sunday, March 17, from 2-5 pm at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 18, at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Hampden, MA, followed by burial with military honors in Somers Center Cemetery.
