Ruthmary Gosnell Obituary

Today, we gather here to honor the life and legacy of a remarkable soul, Ruthmary Bivens Gosnell. As we come together to celebrate her life, we may find solace in the memories we have and the profound impact she had on every one of us. She was born to Joan Delea and James Kay Bivens on Saturday, November 24th, 1951, at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Mayland. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, sister Delea Diana Petersen, and brother Jon Tracy Sutherland Bivens.

Ruthmary is survived by her husband Larry Gosnell, daughters Cora Denise Nettles, Courtney Deanne Miller, and Mindy Rae Miller, stepdaughter Christy Gosnell Koteras, brother James Bivens, sisters Wendy Bivens, and Amanda Bivens, grandchildren Laura Hertz, Amber Shirley, Alyssa Shirley, Jacob Shirley, Madison Martin, and Shayne Miller, step-grandchildren Dylan Koteras and Kaitlyn Koteras, and great-grandchild Amelia Ayala.

To know Ruth was to learn kindness, compassion, and unwavering love. She exemplified this love throughout her marriage to husband Larry of 42 years. Her selflessness and generosity are highlighted within the two generations she raised by nurturing her children and three grandchildren.

With her infectious laughter and radiant smile, Ruth lived her life purposefully and passionately, always helping those in need. No matter what she was busy with- her crosswords, puzzles, or a new hobby- she would lend a listening ear, offer encouragement, or simply reassure those seeking support. Through tough love, she managed to pull us up and over our troubles.

Ruth's greatest legacy lies in the love of her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nanna, sister, daughter, and friend whose love knew no bounds. Her love was unconditional, steady, and everlasting.

Though Ruth may no longer be with us in body, her memory will forever be etched in our hearts as we bid farewell to her physical presence. Let us take comfort in the memories we hold dear and the love that will continue to unite us even in her absence. Rest in peace, Ruth, knowing that you will always remain loved beyond measure and that your legacy will live on in us all.
