Ella "Dawn" Askew

<p>Ella Dawn Shankle Askew, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on March 12, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. She was 49 years old. </p><p>Born on August 10, 1974, in Mississippi, Ella was the beloved daughter of Roger Guinn Lee and Cora Dale Shankle Lee.&nbsp; </p><p>Dawn leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her loving husband, Hugh Askew, her daughter Minnie Desiree Askew Cobb (married to Nathan), her son Cody Van Shankle (married to Kari), and Troy Dalton Askew, all of Harmontown. Dawn adored her grandchildren Clayton Dale Shankle, Alexis Katherine Shankle, Brantley Carter Cobb, and Jaxon Wade Cobb, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Christy Dianne Lee McGehee (Ken) of Coldwater and Rebecca Ann Lee Starkey (Paul Watson) of Horn Lake, MS. </p><p>A woman of faith, Dawn was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Harmontown. She found solace and strength in her faith, which sustained her throughout her life. </p><p>Dawn's hobbies brought her much joy and fulfillment. She had a passion for crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her loved ones for years to come. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren and her family, creating precious memories that will be treasured forever. </p><p>Dawn also had a special bond with her loyal companion, her dog Boonie, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship. </p><p>In addition to her immediate family, Dawn leaves behind a wide circle of friends and loved ones who will deeply miss her warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter. </p><p>There will be no services at this time. The Associated Family Funeral Home in Tupelo is honored to serve the Askew family during this difficult time. </p><p>Although Dawn may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who hold her dear. </p>
