Steve Patrick McKenzie was born on February 7, 1958 in Tunapuna, Trinidad to Doris and Lionel McKenzie. Steve passed away on February 29, 2024 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Steve was the last of his four siblings: Carmen, Frankie, and Arnim McKenzie; and Agnes Phillips.

Steve married Diana DaCosta on March 26, 1977 at Tunapuna Church. From this union three children were born: Marcelle, Melissa and Marsha McKenzie. Marsha passed away in 2002. Steve has one other daughter, Janelle McKenzie.

Steve attended Tunapuna Public School. After completing his education there, he went into the construction industry working on buildings. His passion was gardening and cooking. He also worked at Shaddock Hospital. After leaving the hospital, he worked with the laborers’ union for over 30 years retiring in 2020.

He left Trinidad in 1989 and went to Canada. Leaving there he came to Boston and resided in Hyde Park. He came to Boston with his sister. He was baptized at Hyde Park Church. He learned about the church through his family. He was a loving father taking care of his girls showering them with love.

Steve leaves to grieve his wife, children, his niece, Deborah; Mark and Chalisa; nephews: Lincoln, Wayne, Martin, Duval and Conrad Phillips; cousins: Earl, Laureen and Darcy Gopie and Sheldon Francis; along with a host of cousins that reside in Trinidad.
