Harry Alphonse Wagner

<p>Harry Alphonse Wagner of Canton, beloved husband of Kathleen (Nolan) Wagner, passed away peacefully at the age 83 on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at John Dempsey Hospital. He was born February 6, 1941, in Alexandria, Louisiana; son of the late John and Lucille (Remo) Wagner. His early years were spent in San Antionio, Texas where he graduated in 1959 from Brackenridge High School and starred on the basketball team. He continued his education at San Antonio Junior College, graduating in 1964 and later graduated from St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He moved to Washington, DC in 1965 and began his professional career with American Airlines. He later moved with his family to Hartford, Connecticut where he continued his employment with American Airlines. He left American Airlines and was employed with Hoffman Honda until he retired. During his retirement he worked at Big Y and developed a strong interest in stocks, began investing and managed his own portfolio. He was an avid reader of mystery, thriller, true crime as well as historical and cultural genres. He enjoyed listening to music, mostly Jazz and Blues; watching movies and sports, especially football and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his loving wife of 24 years; he is survived by his son, John Wagner of California; daughter, Erlease Wagner of Maryland; stepdaughter, Jeanette Dupee and fiancée of Vermont; stepson, Leonard Dupee of Connecticut; siblings, Maria Wagner, Jo Ponds, Charles Wagner (Annice) and Eleanor Mavritte (Teodore), all of Washington, DC and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Saturday, March 16th starting at 12:00 PM closing with a celebration of his life at 1:00 PM.
