March 14, 1948-March 10, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Franco Cosentino. Franco passed away on March 10th, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 14th, 1948 in St. Andrea Apostolo Dello Jonio located within the region of Calabria in Southern Italy.

Franco and his two siblings moved to the United States in 1960 with their parents Andrea Cosentino and Caterina Domanijanni settling in Canton, Ohio. He earned a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1973 and a M.S. degree in Satellite Communications from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1983.

Franco and his wife Anna Lombardi were married in Rome, Italy on September 21st, 1974. They lived in Columbus, Ohio until 1976 when they moved to Rockville, Maryland to raise their daughters.

Franco loved being an engineer and the challenge that came with working for various companies including, Litton Industries, Comsat Satellite, General Dynamics and finally retiring from Northrop Grumman in 2013. His love for engineering followed him outside of the workplace. He could fix anything and always had a home improvement project he was working on.

When Franco retired, he spent most of his time traveling with his family and friends. His biggest joy came from spoiling his grandchildren. Franco was known for his contagious laugh and true love for life. He was always the life of the party and maintained a positive attitude even while battling Pancreatic Cancer.

Franco is survived by Anna his wife of almost 50 years. Daughter Manuela (Chris) Connelly, grandchildren Samantha and Jake. Daughter Deborah Cosentino (David Dean), grandchildren Anthony, Alyssa and Alexander. He is also survived by his brother Enzo (Eleonora) Cosentino, Vittoria Cosentino and many nieces and nephews.
