Scott Stuart Matheson Obituary

Scott S. Matheson, 64 of Brunswick, MD, and Morristown, NJ died suddenly on March 9, 2024. He was born December 14, 1959.

Scott was preceded in death by his father Donald Gilchrist Matheson and his mother Joanne Robinson. Scott is survived by his partner of 20 years, Diane Ellis of Brunswick, MD as well as his previous wives Susie Walters and Jennifer Matheson along with his two sons Sean Matheson and Timothy Matheson. In addition to his sons, Scott is survived by his brother Craig Matheson, his wife Ann Marie and their children Colin, Cam and Shea. Scott will also be missed by his many cousins.

Being the charmer that he was, his friends were numerous and brought him much joy. He worked in the restaurant industry since his teen years in every capacity. If you knew Scott, he was never seen without a book and more recently his kindle. He was always reading something! Scott always enjoyed theater as well and attended many a show with his mother Joanne, his brother Craig and his Stepfather Andrew Robinson.

Scott always had a smile and a comment for anyone and everyone. There was no one he wouldn’t talk to. He recently had some medical issues that prevented him from going back to work for the last year and half, but he kept pushing through the pain.

Because of his reading and literacy initiatives, in lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation in Scott’s name to the Brunswick Branch Library. For an online donation please go to www.fcpl.org/support (you can make the donation in Scott’s name). If you would prefer to send a check, it can be made out to “FCPL Brunswick Branch Library” and sent to Brunswick Branch Library, 915 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick, MD 21716.

His body, per his wishes, will be cremated and returned to Diane. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be planned in the upcoming months after the shock wears off. We will notify family and friends when a date has been finalized.
