David Thomas Vernotzy, 44, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away suddenly on March 7, 2024, of unknown complications. His loss is completely unexpected, and his family is profoundly saddened.

David was born on November 24, 1979, to Frank and Sherry Vernotzy nee Rogacs, in Akron, Ohio. He is survived by his father Frank, brother Terry, nieces and nephews, Shiloh, Ashlin, Brylan, Route, Cruize, Michael and Damion, stepbrother Ian Burlesen, stepmother Cheryl Metcalf, aunts Doreen and Michelle, uncles Larry and Gary, step grandmother Michele, along with countless friends in the community and his place of work. He was preceded in death by his mother, as well as his uncle Craig and grandfather Gerry Vernotzy.

David was a jack of all trades, having done home repairs, maintenance, and painting. In Kettering he was very happy and found community at the Soft Touch Car Wash, in Dayton. He was a volunteer firefighter and thrilled to carry on the family legacy of fighting fires and saving lives. David also became licensed to perform weddings, following in his father’s footsteps, and received a Citizenship Award, from the City of Kettering for distinguished acts of bravery.

He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them, and if you knew him, you knew it. He will be missed dearly.

In typical Dave fashion, there are no services planned, certainly no pomp and circumstance. A celebration of life will occur with details to be determined.
