Ila June Beauchamp Tooke Obituary

Ila June Beauchamp Tooke was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on April 13, 1933, to Bonnie and Bud Beauchamp. Ila June went to see her Lord on March 7, 2024, in Alamogordo, NM.

June met the love of her life, James Wimberly Tooke, in Alamogordo, NM at the Red Rooster Cafe and married him in 1955. They lived a joyful 57 years together. She was a lover of beauty and created beauty all around her. She wrote music and poetry, gardened, painted, and quilted. She also cared for her family and cooked amazing meals. June was a deeply religious woman and an active church member. She served her community through home Bible studies and Aglow, and also worked at Vision Broadcasting.

June was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. Her children remember her as the mom who always supported and protected them. Multiple times June and Jim took people in need into their homes and lives, including their heart-daughter, Trish, who lived with them a year in order to complete high school.

June is survived by sister, Lila Green of Broken Bow, OK; sisters-in-law, Sue Beauchamp of Flower Mound, TX and Shari Beauchamp of Lubbock, TX; son, John (Maritza) Tooke of Jersey City, NJ; daughters, Lov (Mike) Julian, Jayme (Keith) Berry both of Alamogordo, NM, and Tricia (Andy) Labout of Cedartown, GA; grandchildren, Heather (Derrick) Bash, Christine (Chris) Woolen, Leigh Anne (Tommy) Gardner, Jessica Arrigo, Jonathan Berry, and Melody (Benjamin) Armstrong; great grandchildren, Dax (Taylor) Bash, Sydney and Damian Lorett, Shayna Tooke, Ronin and Rosemary Armstrong; great-great grandchild, Natalie Bash; eleven nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; brothers, Bill and Bud Beauchamp; brother-in-law, Ron Green; nephew, Michael Beauchamp; niece, Paula Scholzen.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the staff at Casa Arena Health Care who provided excellent care the last year of June's life.
