Eleanor M. Cimino Obituary

Eleanor Cimino, 93, of the Green Ridge Section of Scranton, recently a resident of Marywood Heights died Sunday March 10, 2024 after a brief illness. Her husband of 74 years is Frank Cimino.

Born in Scranton she was the daughter of the late William and Kathleen Loftus Ninehan. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, prior to retirement, she was the co-owner of the House of Whitestone for over 20 years.

Eleanor loved going to play Bingo and trips to the casino. Her proudest accomplishments were that of her family. They could all be found at one of many Monday night dinners, where Eleanor would beam with pride and joy at all of her family that she loved with all her heart.

Eleanor’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, especially Lori Reese, Amy Charnetski, and Missy Smith for all of their kind and compassionate care.

Surviving are daughters Janette Eckenrode and husband Bill, Scranton, Cindy Trischetta, and Dee Bochicchio, son Dave Cimino and wife Diane (Bo), all of Scranton; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law George Hill, Scranton; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by infant son Larry; sons-in-law Bill Bochicchio and Larry Trischetta; sisters Mary Brown, Kathleen Angelini, Althea Tambeau, Annette Hill; brothers Roy and Bill Ninehan

The funeral will be conducted on Friday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Paul’s Church 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Interment in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore will be private at the convenience of the family. All attending the Mass are kindly asked to proceed directly to church. Friends and family may pay their respects Thursday from 5-7 pm in the funeral home.
