<p>Raymond Newton Long, 77, of Winchester, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on March 7, 2024.&nbsp; </p><p>Raymond, a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on December 1, 1946, in Winchester VA, the son of the late Alvah Harding Long and Helen Marie Putman Long.&nbsp; He was a graduate of James Wood High School and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany and during the Vietnam War.&nbsp; After his military service, Raymond and his father owned the Silver Diner. For much of his career, Raymond operated Long’s Construction Co. in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Most recently, he was General Manager of the Terrace Club.&nbsp; Raymond was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 824. He was also a longtime member of the Elks Lodge #867 and the Berryville Moose Lodge #2139.&nbsp; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Estella M. Kline, her husband, Herbert Kline, and a brother-in-law, Harold “Buster” Fincham. </p><p>Raymond is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tanya Crane Long. They would have celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary on March 18; his two sons, Raymond and wife Sandy of Winchester, VA, Robby and wife Amber of Winfield, WV; two very special grandsons, RJ and Ace, also of Winfield, WV; his beloved dog, Honey, who was by his side until the end.&nbsp; Also surviving, a sister, Juanita L. Fincham, a niece, several nephews, and numerous cousins all of whom he loved dearly. </p><p>A Celebration of Life for Raymond will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, for family and friends at First Christian Church, 75 Merriman’s Lane, Winchester, VA.&nbsp; Casual dress requested. Raymond will be laid to rest privately with full military funeral honors. </p><p>In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Raymond’s memory to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W.
