Bettina A. Caldwell Obituary

Bettina A. Caldwell, a resident of Oxford, Mississippi, passed away and entered Eternal Life on Saturday, March 9, 2024. She was born January 3, 1932, in Thomastown, Mississippi, and was a faithful follower of Christ since childhood.


Mrs. Caldwell graduated from Thomastown High School and attended Holmes Junior College before transferring to Delta State University where she earned her undergraduate degree in teaching. Later she earned a master’s degree in education from The University of Mississippi.


After starting her teaching career at Como High School, she served briefly with the Extension Service before returning to teaching at Horn Lake High School. Later, she taught at Northwest Rankin High School before serving out her teaching career at Northwest Community College. She was a founding member of the Alpha Delta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society for women educators.


Bettina is survived by her daughter, Cindy Williams (David); her two sons, Johnny (Kristen) and Jim; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Caldwell.


Visitation will be at 12:00 pm, Friday, March 15, 2024, at Hernando Funeral Home, 2285 Highway 51, Hernando, Mississippi, with her funeral service following at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Como.
