Raymond "Moe" Dye

<p>Mr. Raymond “Moe” Dye, age 63, of the Clarks Valley section of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Sunday (March 10, 2024) at his home. Born September 25, 1960 in Tazewell County, Virginia, he was a son of Worley Dye of Swords Creek and the late Nora Mae Hess Dye. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1978 graduate of Honaker High School and then started his journey of coal miner with almost twenty-five years with the UMWA. After retiring, he would mow grass and piddle, always willing to lend a hand and help others. He was a loving father, son, brother, and friend, and enjoyed spending time with his family.</p><p>In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Saunders, brother-in-law, Ricky Saunders, nephew, Gregory Dye, and his faithful canine companion, “Zoe” who was always by his side.</p><p>In addition to his father, survivors include daughter, Amber Dye Perricllia and husband, Matthew, who was a special son to him; brothers, Randall Dye and wife, Pam, Gary Dye, and Rafty Dye and wife, Robin; special friend, Rhonda Smith; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews also survive.</p><p>Funeral service will be conducted at 12 Noon Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. David Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Dye Cemetery on Miller Creek.</p><p>UMWA Honors will be conducted by Sub 28 Chaplain Corp.</p><p>Pallbearers will be Tex Lee Smith, Jr., Tony Honaker, Jamie Perricllia, Dalton Stacy, Brad Smith, and Cade Saunders.</p><p>The family will receive friends after 6 PM Thursday at the Honaker Funeral Home, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7 PM.</p><p><br></p>
