Laurie Marie Ellingson Obituary

Laurie Marie Ellingson, 65, of Peyton Colorado, passed away and went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at her daughter’s home.

Laurie was born on April 21, 1958, to Glenroy Thayer and Mary Frances West in Uchitomari, Okinawa, Japan. Laurie lived in many places within and outside of the United States and her favorite place was Puerto Rico which she talked about the most. Laurie graduated from Elizabethtown Highschool in Kentucky in 1976, and then married and became a mother. Later she moved to Colorado Springs and began her lifelong passion teaching art to children for over 30 years and was the founder of Kids Can Draw Fine Art Classes. Laurie would want each child to know that anyone can do art all you need is the desire to learn.

Laurie led an outstanding and full life filled with joy, children, and constant possibilities. When she wasn’t teaching art, she was studying and refining her skills, examining new technology, and perfecting her techniques. She was always ahead of the trends with gaming systems, phones, crafts, and art techniques. Even though she enjoyed technology and art the two things that she loved more is her Family and God’s word. She dedicated herself to studying and following God’s law and strived to fully understand his living word. We will miss Laurie in our life and all the things that she was so passionate about including the color “PINK”.

She is survived by her daughter, Amber Lippincott (Ryan) of Peyton, Colorado; son Christopher Young (Shannon) of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter Michelle Ellingson (John) of Colorado Springs, son Andrew Ellingson (Autumn) of Colorado Springs, son Joseph Ellingson of Colorado Springs, son Duncan Egbert of Colorado Springs; two brothers, David & Daniel Thayer of Tuscon, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Kelsey O’Casey (Kyle), Riley Lippincott, Nathan Young, Aria Ellingson, Ayla Ellingson, Archer Ellingson, Ayvi Ellingson and a step grandchild June Hernandez

She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenroy Thayer, Mary Francis Thayer, and her brother Adam Lewis Thayer.

Laurie’s graveside service is at Evergreen cemetery at 1:30 PM on March 11, 2024.

But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take me to himself.

Psalm 49:15
