Patricia L. “Cookie” Shane, 69, of Winchester, died Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Winchester

Medical Center after a short bout of Pancreatic Cancer.


She was born June 10, 1954 in Winchester, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Goldie Lam Orndorff. She was a graduate of James Wood High School, retired from Navy Federal Credit Union, and was a bookeeper for Shane’s Roofing. She attended Mountain View Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Elks Lodge # 867, and Winchester Moose Lodge 1283.


She married Samuel Franklin Shane on January 10, 1975 in Winchester.


Cookie is survived by her husband Sammy, a daughter Tina (JR ) Burns of Stephens City, VA a brother Frankie

(Linda) Orndorff of Cross Junction, VA. Her pride and joy were her 5 grandsons and 1 great grandson. Christian Burns (Hannah) of Capon Bridge, WV, Caleb and Carson Burns of Stephens City, VA, Nicholas and Lucas Shane of Martinsburg, WV. and her great-grandson Weston Burns of Capon Bridge, WV.


Anyone that knew Cookie loved her. She enjoyed life and helping everyone whether is was volunteering at CCAP, Winchester Rescue Misson, or making her famous potato salad. She especially enjoyed traveling. She looked forward to going to the beach every year with her family and friends, that is where she said she always felt at peace.


She is preceded in death by her son S.J. “George” Shane and her parents.


The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at JonesFuneral Home in Winchester. Entombment will be private at a later date at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
