<p>Memorial services for John D. Engelbart age 75 of West Point, NE will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE with Pastor John Gierke officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point and will continue one hour prior to the service at Minnick Funeral Home. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorials be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Paul Lutheran School in West Point, NE. The funeral will be live streamed on the Minnick Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/minnickfuneralserviceinc.</p><p><br></p><p>John passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, NE.</p><p><br></p><p>John Donel Engelbart was born on August 11, 1948 to Harold and Alverna (Jahnke) Engelbart in West Point, NE. He was baptized on August 29, 1948 by Rev. Grimm and later confirmed on April 15, 1962 by Rev. Nickel at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft, NE. John graduated from West Point High School in 1966, where he was an All-State Selection for football as a center on offense and a linebacker on defense.</p><p><br></p><p>After high school, John began working for the REA, later working for Welding Construction, before working many years at the West Point Sale Barn. In addition, he was seed salesman for McCurdy Seed, Big M, AgSource, NuTech and Hoegemeyer Hybrids.</p><p><br></p><p>On January 6, 1996, he was united in marriage to Jean Goebel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point, NE.</p><p><br></p><p>John was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, hunting, and taking his dog for a ride on the golf cart. John was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. He really looked forward to solving the daily Jumbles in the newspaper. John loved spending time with his family and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to family or friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include-</p><p>Wife-Jean Engelbart of West Point, NE</p><p>Son-Jon and Elizabeth Engelbart of Omaha, NE and children-</p><p> JT and Nolan Engelbart</p><p>Son-Mark and Michelle Engelbart of Omaha, NE and children-</p><p> Jake, Tyler, and Blake Engelbart</p><p>Daughter-Rhonda and Paul Heimann of Fremont, NE and family-</p><p> Ellie and Devon Risch and son-Rhett </p><p>Sister-Jean Bowman and friend Bill Cook of Omaha, NE</p><p>Brother-Jim Engelbart of West Point, NE</p><p>Sister-Jody and Mike Lindberg of Lincoln, NE</p><p>Sister-in-law-Connie Engelbart of Omaha, NE</p><p>Nieces and nephews also survive him, as well as his former wife Carol (Hugo) Kocarnik.</p><p><br></p><p>John was preceded in death by his parents-Harold and Alverna Engelbart, and a brother-Joel Engelbart.</p>
