Gabriel Stillions Obituary

Gabriel Ryan Stillions, known as Gabe to friends and family, passed away March 8, 2024 in his hometown of Bloomington, Indiana at the age of 27. Born on March 15, 1996, he was the cherished son of Chris and Melannie Stillions and brother to Tyler and Luke Stillions. Gabe meant a great deal to his brothers, and as Luke said, “he was a caring brother that went out of his way to make sure I was taken care of, helped me through my first time moving out of the house and made me feel like he always had my back and if I ever needed him he would be there. He was a very special person that had so much to offer and could make me laugh at any point. He will be missed but never forgotten.”

Gabe was a graduate of Edgewood High School and later attended the University of Southern Indiana. He worked as a letter carrier for the Bloomington Post Office and was a Union Steward for the NALC Local 828.

Gabe was most well known for his wry sense of humor. He was often seen with a smirk and a twinkle in his eye. Good with numbers from a young age, he was both frugal, yet generous. He was a lover of animals, and leaves behind his cat Cheddar. Gabe didn’t like his picture taken or being the center of attention, but he loved big and was fiercely loyal. Extremely stubborn and independent, he didn’t care for anyone making a fuss over him.

In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Steve and LaDonna Lanham and many aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him dearly.

Gabe was predeceased in death by his paternal grandparents, Jerry R. Stillions and Della Hutto, and maternal great-grandparents, Frank and Freeda Norman.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at The Funeral Chapel on Saturday, with burial to follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Jason Lanham will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, an organization that was important to Gabe and all members of the NALC.
