Obituary
Phillip “Phil” Ernie McDonald, age 81, of Mustang, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born on September 2, 1942, to Oren and Viola (Davidson) McDonald in San Jose, CA. He later attended high school in Porterville, CA. After high school, he began working as a ranch hand. In 1962, he married his first wife, Phyllis, who together they had 3 sons Phil Jr, Rex, and Bill. During these years, he worked as a truck driver. Later, Phil moved to Montana and married Joanne, and they had a son named Shane. He then moved to Wyoming and began working as a roofer. He would continue to pursue a career in roofing, eventually opening his own roofing business in the OKC area, Phil McDonald Roofing. In 1987, Phil married Maxine Peterson. They were married for 32 years when Maxine passed away in 2019. In April 2021, Phil married Rochelle McPheeters who was his wife until death.
Phil loved his family and was devoted to his business, earning a reputation throughout OKC for dedication and treating his customers right. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing musical instruments, especially the guitar and the banjo. For many years, he also enjoyed being a square dance caller. He was also a skilled leatherworker and woodworker.
Phil is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; his parents, and his sister Glenna Faye Herring.
He is survived by his wife, Rochelle; sons Phil Jr and wife Cindy, Rex and wife Heather, and Bill and wife Cindy; Shane and wife Tracy; daughter Carolyn Wall; seven grandchildren, Phillip III, Amanda, Alexander, Elizabeth, Theadecia, Stephannie, and Zachary; one great-grandchild Noah; sister, Lydia Hall; as well as many extended family and friends.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, March 14th, from 1-8 pm at McNeil’s Funeral Service. The funeral services will take place on Friday, March 15th, at 2 pm at McNeil’s Funeral Service with burial to follow at Red Hill Cemetery in Mustang.
