Oliver Edmond Hill

Haysi, VA – Oliver Hill, age 96 of Wagon Trail, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 at his residence. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late John and Nannie Lee Hill. He served in the United States Army, was a retired coal miner, member of UMWA Local #7170, and member and deacon of Tarpon Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June Bartley Hill, a son, Roger Hill, son-in-law, Darrell Silcox, daughter-in-law, Debbie Hill, granddaughter, Amanda Cumbo, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Silcox and Teresa (Doyle) Cumbo both of Haysi, a son, Danny Hill of Haysi, grandchildren; Larry Hill, Heather Allen, Janet Cookson, Fayne Cumbo, and Dustin Cumbo, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, two brothers, Calvin Hill of IL and Robert Hill of AR, and two sisters, Trula Brady of IN and Janie Newell of IL.

Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Haysi Funeral Home with Jerry Vitatoe, Danny Sluss, and Darrell Milgrim officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartley-Hill Cemetery, Haysi. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12 at the funeral home where an evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
