Emmy Marie Seidling Obituary

Emmy Seidling lived a life that was big, loud, fun, bold, caring, crazy and rich in friendships and love. The old saying “she never met a stranger” applies to Emmy indeed. Emmy’s adventure in this world ended on March 7, 2024 at the age of 35, after battling a difficult illness. She was surrounded by love to her very last breath.

Emmy lived life on her terms but welcomed everyone along for the ride. And what a ride it was! Born October 21, 1988 in Westminster, Colorado, Emmy moved with her family to the Twin Cities area in 1991. She graduated from Rosemount HS, Class of 2007, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Metropolitan State University. She joined the Minnesota Department of Corrections and had a decade-plus career in which she not only moved through various departments and promotions, but made it her passion to help people learn, grow and better themselves. While serving in a role as a transition specialist, she was known for being relentless in her effort to help her clients succeed.

Emmy was a fervent supporter of Special Olympics, fundraising and joining in at special events and most important to her, she loved meeting and befriending the athletes. Emmy loved to travel, starting with a high school trip through Italy and a special visit to London, as well as vacations in Mexico and trips all around the US, including many visits to California to spend time with her parents and brother.

Emmy loved country music, she loved making people dance at parties, she loved actually learning about everyone she met, and she loved love. She loved penguins and dogs, especially her own dear Charlie, a scrappy little Maltese-yorkie mix.

Emmy is survived by her mother Tamee Seidling, her father Patrick Seidling, sister Sara Vera-Rosales, brother Evan Seidling, grandmother Helen Boehm, aunt Heather Walsh, uncle Brian Sabin, uncle and aunt Randy and Jeri Seidling, aunt Lisa Seidling, near-family members Mariano and Soriya Vera-Rosales, nieces and nephews Ty Sabin, Josh and Joel Walsh, Bella Vera-Seidling and Connor Johnson. Her dearest friends Jaime Weaver and husband Treggon, Nicole Prigge and Bishop Marty Shanahan were her true family as well.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 starting at 1 pm at Oakwood Funeral, 2585 Stillwater Road East, Maplewood, Mn 55119. The Celebration is open to everyone (dogs too!) who have ever been fortunate to be in Emmy’s world!

NO FLOWERS PLEASE. In lieu of cards and flowers, donations to the Minnesota Special Olympics are suggested.
