<p>Togus – Charles “Tom” King, 89, a resident of Lisbon, passed away on March 4, 2024 at VA Maine Health Care System-Hospice Togus. He was born in Norwich, New York on September 14, 1934, the son of Marc Nesmith King and Lilla Mae (Sherman) King. Tom graduated from Morse High School in Bath, Maine, class of 1952. He received his BA from Boston College and an MS in logistic management from Florida Institute of Technology. On August 3, 2009, in Alabama he married S. B. Ernestine (Danforth) McDonald of Auburn; they shared a wonderful 10 years together. Mrs. King passed away on January 31, 2019. Tom proudly served 27 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a Lt. Colonel on August 1, 1986. While serving he received the Legion of Merit Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. He continued to work for the Dept. of Defense and fully retired in 2002. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandchildren, DJ and Danielle and their family, discussing politics and genealogy.</p><p>He is survived by his three sons; Charles T. “Chuck” King, Jr. of Lavonia, GA, Marc John King and his wife, Jewell of Tulsa, OK, and Brent Alan King and his wife, Pam of Sumter, SC, a daughter, Lauri Jean Hornicek and her husband, Kurt of Frederick, MD, a step-daughter, Shelli-Hope Pride and husband Donald of Bridgton and their children, Danielle M. Pride and Donald J Pride II and wife, Michaela and their daughter Eleanor Elizabeth “Ellie” of Waterboro, a sister, Edna Mae Waterhouse of West Bath, grandchildren and great grandchildren. </p><p>He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, S. B. Ernestine (Danforth) McDonald-King, a stepson, Tracy-March McDonald, a sister, Laura Mae Small.
