Arlene L. McCarty, 87, of Hopwood (formerly of Confluence) passed away on Saturday March 9, 2024 at WVU Uniontown Hospital.

She was born January 24, 1937 in Ligonier, PA, the daughter of the late James and Naomi (Shaulis) Herring.

In addition to her parents, Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Sheldon McCarty (2023); son Barry McCarty; and sisters Betty Smitley, Carol Hunter, and Shirley Michaels.

Arlene is survived by her children Terry (Lori) McCarty of Confluence and Shawn (Debria) McCarty of Friendsville; grandchildren Michael, Megan, Jeffrey, Brayden, Alexus, Noel, Camryn, and Triston; great-grandchild Laurel; and siblings James Herring of Markleysburg and Don Vansickle (Sheri) of Friendsville.

She was a member of the Markleysburg Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Mountain Senior Center, and owner of Craft Fan Fare on Flat Rock Road.

Friends and family will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON on Monday March 11 from 2pm-8pm with the Markleysburg Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary service at 7pm. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday March 12 from 9am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Gary Workman officiating.

Interment will follow at Thomas Cemetery.
