Nancy Joann Riffey Obituary

Nancy Joann Sturgis Riffey, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2024, in Hiddenite, NC. She was born to the late Woodrow Wilson and Mary Joe Scarboro Sturgis on January 12, 1945, in Havre de Grace, Maryland. During her working career she was a cook at McDonalds for over 30 years. Mrs. Riffey was a member of Carsons Run Baptist Church in Aberdeen, Maryland and enjoyed going to church. Nancy loved crafts, her babies, grand babies, great grand babies, and her fur babies.


Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years George William Riffey, two grandchildren, Daniel Anthony Billings, Kyle Austin Riffey, two brothers, two sisters, and a son-in-law Larry Murphy.


Those left to cherish the memories of Nancy include five daughters: Tina Riffey, Christina Billings (Woodrow), Linda Billings (Daniel), Theresa Murphy, Pamela Riffey, one son, George Riffey Jr. (Carrie), one sister, Skippy Richardson, eighteen grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and her fur babies Booger and Dodger.


A visitation will be held at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA, on Wednesday March 13, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. The funeral service will begin in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 pm and Pastor Paul Cole, of Prince of Peace Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Dublin Southern Cemetery, Dublin, MD.


The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to the American Heart Association at PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
