<p>Joyce A. Kiste, 94</p><p><br></p><p>Joyce A. Kiste, 94 of Ashland passed away early Friday morning, March 8, 2024 in her home at Belmont Tower at Brethren Care Village.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born on March 17, 1929 in Coshocton, Ohio, the only child of the late Bernard and Gladys (nee Stewart) McDermott.</p><p><br></p><p>Joyce graduated from Coshocton High School. She furthered her education and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Ashland College.</p><p><br></p><p>For more than 30 years, she was a devoted educator teaching 3rd grade at Osborn School in Ashland and retired in 1994.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a devoted member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Joyce also enjoyed for many years being an active member of mother’s club, retired teacher’s group, and Ashland City School Foundation. Throughout her retirement years, she loved playing duplicate bridge and was a member of the local bridge club, rug hooking along with other small crafts. </p><p><br></p><p>Joyce is survived by her loving daughter, Susan (Randy) Emmons of Ashland; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Kiste of Ashland; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Derek) Woods of Lexington, Megan (Josh) Gluvna of Hilliard, Ryan (Julie) Emmons of Ashland, Chad (Kari) Emmons of Ashland and Greg (Missy) Emmons of Ashland; and 13 great grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by a loving son, James “Kip” Kiste who passed from this life on August 16, 2020.</p><p><br></p><p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Rod Kreidler presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery.
