Michael was born in Pasadena, CA to Paul and Audrey Shaw. He grew up in Huntington Beach, California where he was an avid surfer and on his High School Surfing team. His love for surfing continued throughout his life.


Michael joined the Navy to serve his country in 1989 as a radioman in the Submarine service. He then proceeded to become a Navy Diver after completing Dive School in Hawaii in 1993.


In July of 1996, he then became an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician after graduating from EOD school at Eglin Airforce Base in Florida. He also went on to obtain his Master EOD qualification at EOD Training and Evaluation Unit One in San Diego, CA. His duty stations were in Connecticut and San Diego. He was also stationed at EOD Mobile units in Guam, Hawaii, and Coronado, CA. Michael was presented with several commendations, awards, ribbons, and medals throughout his career. He also made several deployments and missions overseas with EOD and Special Forces.


Once Michael was discharged from the Navy, he began his second career as a Government Contractor working in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal field as a Project Manager, Safety Officer, Quality Control Officer and EOD Tech in Guam, Saudi Arabia, Hawaii, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Nevada. He was also an Army EOD Instructor at Red Stone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.


Michael is preceded in death by his father Paul Shaw and survived by his mother, Audrey Shaw, his wife and daughter Bonnie and Audrianna Shaw, his sister Lori Mosely (Sammy) and nephews Max and Amon Mosley.


Michael was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. His love of the Lord and strong Christian faith helped him navigate all the obstacles of his life.
