<p>Ervin Lee Breon Sr, 93, of Hedrick, died at 11:30 a.m. March 6, 2024 at Oskaloosa Care Center.</p><p>He was born March 13, 1930 to Willis and Edna Wimpsett Breon on their farm south of Hedrick.</p><p>After graduating from Hedrick High School 1948, Ervin graduated from Omaha Radio School and went to work at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS. In May 1953, he left for Yellowstone National Park to start a job driving a park touring bus, which he did until the park closed in September. Ervin enjoyed meeting people from all over who came sightseeing, even from other countries. He later returned home to their family heritage farm where he was born, which he farmed until retiring in 2003; a good steward still of the land.</p><p>Ervin met Ila Clark in the spring of 1954 and they were married December 24th of that year at Wildwood Evangel Church with the Rev. Swanson officiating. To that union five children were born, Ervin Jr., Danny, Susan, Elizabeth and Timothy. During his farming years, raising a family, Ervin was a very civic minded man, serving on the Hedrick School Board for many years, was one of the original group of local citizens who started plans for Hedrick Housing and served as board member, was a township trustee, ASCS/FSA board member as well as trustee board member at First Pentecostal Assembly of God in Ottumwa.</p><p>Ervin always had a story to tell, loved making people laugh and never met a stranger. He was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.</p><p>Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Ila; their children, Ervin (Candy) Breon Jr. of Hedrick, Susan (Timothy) Floden of Bussey, Elizabeth (Mike) Burke of Oskaloosa and Dr. Timothy (Shannon) Breon of Oskaloosa; 18 grandchildren, Matthew, Amy, Kurt, Kati, Mitchell, Meredith, Anthony, Nicholas, Jonathan, Megan, Leah, Jordan, Alec, Lindsay, Carson, Aaron, Amy and AJ; 31 great-grandchildren, every one of them special; daughter in-law, Liz Breon of San Antonio, TX; sisters-in-law, Jackie Breon of Hedrick and Norene Breon of Ottumwa.</p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Breon; brothers, Kenneth Breon, Max Breon and Ross Breon and his wife, Janice; and sister, Marjorie Meyer and her husband, Bob.</p><p>Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.</p><p>Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13th on Ervin’s birthday, at First Pentecostal Assembly of God with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery.</p><p>Memorials may be made to First Pentecostal Assembly of God.</p><p><br></p><p></p>
