Marilyn Gilboy Obituary

Marilyn Irene Gilboy (Greissinger), age 88 of Sturtevant, WI passed away peacefully on March 2nd, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loved ones and her adored emotional support dog Dol’ce Bella.

She was born on January 27th, 1936 in Buffalo, NY; the daughter of Herbert and Florence (Kinchula) Greissinger. She was united in marriage to Donald Gilboy on April 4th, 1957 in Detroit, MI. She and her husband Donald were married for 61 blissful years.

While Marilyn attended high school, she possessed a natural talent for swimming. She was given the opportunity to attend an Olympic training facility to be on the Olympic squad as an alternate for her expertise in the swimming style of the breaststroke. She did not pursue that path but continued her love of swimming throughout her life as in her heart, swimming was important and very special to her. She also worked as a telephone operator for a short period of time while still living in Detroit, MI.

Shortly after Marilyn’s marriage to Don, they became parents to their first child while still living in Detroit, MI. Soon after, they relocated to Racine, WI where they continued to expand their family and became parents again to 6 more beautiful children. While raising her family of 7, and the family life she so beautifully nurtured, Marilyn enjoyed coffee clutching with her many special friends and neighbors. She also had a great love and talent for crocheting in which she crocheted and gifted her beautiful creations to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition, Marilyn enjoyed sewing, specifically quilting. She also spent time creating spectacular paintings and ceramics. Marilyn had a great eye for antiques and she collected many throughout the years.

Once Marilyn’s children approached school age, she pursued her passion of becoming a CNA at St. Mary’s Hospital in Racine, WI. Her empathy and compassion of caring for others became her career for 27 years.

In 1991, Marilyn and Don fulfilled their dream and relocated to Winter, WI on Lake Winter where they spent 27 more wonderful and blessed years together. They both thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife, the calmness of the water and the peacefulness; but most of all, they enjoyed each other. Her and Don spent many years camping with their 7 children during summer vacations. Most important, she loved and cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her children David (Melissa) Gilboy, Steven Gilboy, Sue(Ted) Rademacher, Julie Gilboy, Tommy (Tracy) Gilboy, Lisa (Roger) Gonzales and Laurie (Bob) Borchardt; 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, her brother David, her sister Joan along with many nieces, nephews and close friends. In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald and her twin sister Pat.
