Samuel Herbert (Sam) Summer passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the age of 88. Born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1936, Sam graduated from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and the New York University School of Business.

He brought his family to the Valley of the Sun in 1979 and owned numerous business ventures locally until he retired.

Sam was one of the founding members of the Desert Foothills Jewish Community Association, a 25-year-old organization that provides services to Jewish members living in the northeast part of the valley.

Sam is survived by his partner, Bonnie; his sons, Mead, Nathaniel and Alexander; and his grandchildren, Lauren, Jacob, Micah and Jordyn. He also is survived by his brother, Barry, and his sister, Elaine. His first wife and the mother of his children, Jeanie, passed in 2008.

Sam will be buried at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in northeast Phoenix. Donations may be made to Desert Foothills Jewish Community Association, PO Box 25068, Scottsdale, AZ 85255.
