Barbara A Walton

Barbara A. Walton (nee Schaefer), 85, a current resident of Brick, NJ died March 6, 2024, at home after a year-long illness.

Bobbie, as she was known to her childhood friends, was born in Hunterdon County, NJ. She grew up in Nutley and Neptune City, NJ and was a 1956 graduate of Manasquan High School. Barbara married Frank Walton in 1961 and they lived in Spring Lake Heights until 1998. Prior to retiring in 2020, she worked in various customer-focused positions at church, and in restaurants, banks, and retailers.

he enjoyed volunteering at church, bowling, and trying new recipes on her family. She is a current member of the West Belmar United Methodist Church where she was one of a cadre of soup-lunch cooks and volunteers and served on the Administrative Council there. Barbara was a regular donor to local food pantries as well as a lifelong left-handed knitter who recently taught herself to crochet. Lately she enjoyed crafting hats for all, including as donations to local hospitals and church bazaar fundraisers.

Barbara is now at peace and rejoined with her husband, Frank, who died in 1999. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves five children she and Frank raised in Spring Lake Heights - Jason of Brick, Ryan (Jessica) of Toms River, Scott of Belmar, Frances Walton Smythe of Manahawkin, and Virginia Seminara (Richard) of Annandale, NJ, as well as nine grandchildren: Cindy, Shawn, Justin, Jessica, Daniel, Michael, Samantha, Dana, Victoria, and six great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday March 11, 2024, from 5-7 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736, with a funeral service to begin at 6:30 pm. Interment will be 10 am on Tuesday March 12, 2024, at Brig. William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Barbara had a severe pollen allergy and in lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the West Belmar United Methodist Church 1000 17th Avenue Wall NJ 07719, or volunteering at your local food pantry or soup kitchen.
