<p>Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Jensen nee Kemp passed away peacefully with</p><p>family at her side in Hamilton, on March 5, 2024 at the age of 82.</p><p>Eldest daughter of the late George Michael and Ivy Kemp, Betty was</p><p>born August 26, 1941 in Toronto.</p><p><br></p><p>Betty is lovingly remembered by Freddy, her devoted husband of 61</p><p>years as well as her son Peter (Meredith) and as Nana to Paul, Luke,</p><p>Margaret and Thomas. She is also survived by her siblings Donald Kemp,</p><p>Diane Jackson, William Kemp (Carolyn) &amp; Robert Kemp.</p><p><br></p><p>Betty grew up in Toronto first on Logan Ave. then Waverley Rd. in the</p><p>Beaches. She started working for the Toronto Fire Department at the</p><p>age of 16. In 1962 she married the handsome Danish fellow she had</p><p>helped convince her friend’s mother to accept as a boarder. Through</p><p>hard work and sacrifice, she and Freddy built a beautiful home</p><p>overlooking Lake Ontario in Scarborough. In 1992, after 35 years and</p><p>one day’s service, Betty retired from the Fire Department. After</p><p>retirement, Betty and Fred moved to Cobourg where they enjoyed many</p><p>more years by the lake. In recent years, they moved to Hamilton to be</p><p>close to Peter and his family. Betty will be remembered for her sweet</p><p>and gentle demeanor and her beaming smile.</p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks to the staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights for</p><p>their care and compassion in Betty's final years.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage</p><p>Ave. Hamilton (Between Mohawk &amp; Fennell) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024</p><p>from 5:00-7:00 p.m.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday,</p><p>March 14, 2024 at 11:30a.m.. A future interment will be held at Sunset</p><p>Mindepark in Puslinch, ON.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a</p><p>charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.</p>

Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Jensen nee Kemp passed away peacefully with
