Frances J. Vaughan

<p>Frances Jones Vaughan, age 100, died Saturday, March 2, 2024, at her home in Germantown.&nbsp; Born March 9, 1923, in Dickerson, she was the daughter of the late Linwood T. and Frances L. Jones.&nbsp; She was the wife of 50 years to Henry C. Vaughan, who died in 2000. </p><p>Frances earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and CPA in Accounting during a time when this type of accomplishment was a rare occurrence for women. &nbsp;It was also noted she was one of the first women to receive her CPA licensure in Washington, DC. </p><p>Beside working outside the home, Frances volunteered at Neelsville Presbyterian Church with their clothes donation program, she also was a leader of the Clarksburg 4-H Club for countless years.&nbsp; In addition, she was an officer and member of the Damascus Post 171 American Legion Auxiliary.&nbsp; She enjoyed taking care of the many flowers around her home and loved cooking.&nbsp; Many of her favorite recipes are still enjoyed at family gatherings. </p><p>Surviving Frances are daughter Janet Crown and husband David of Fort Saint Joe, FL, daughter Betty Smith and husband Robert of Point of Rocks, MD., son Calvin (Tom) Vaughan and wife Stacey of Adamstown, MD, and son James Vaughan and wife Lucia of Ribera, NM.&nbsp; Eleven Grandchildren, Eighteen Great Grandchildren, and Three Great Great Grandchildren. </p><p>The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday March 12, at Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Rd., Damascus MD.&nbsp; A memorial service and burial will be held the following day, Wednesday March 13, at 11 a.m., starting at the funeral home and proceeding to Monocacy Cemetery, 19801 W.
