Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Edward P. Fischer age 96 of Wisner, NE will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner, NE with Fr. Vincent Sunguti as celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will take place in the St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with the Rosary being recited at 10:00 a.m. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is assisting with the arrangements.

Edward passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the Norfolk Veterans Home.

Edward Paul Fischer was born June 21, 1927 to Edward H. and Louise A. (Hans) Fischer in Hartington, NE. The family later moved to Wisner, where Edward graduated from Wisner High School.

On September 20, 1945, Edward enlisted in the United States Military and served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years before retiring on July 31, 1965. He proudly served during WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict, receiving several awards and citations.

On August 1, 1966, he was united in marriage to Jane White in Denver, CO. Edward worked in the lab at a Denver, CO hospital for several years.

Edward was active in his church in Denver and later in Nebraska City, NE, before the couple moved to Wisner, NE.

Edward is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents-Edward and Louise Fischer, wife-Jane Fischer, six sisters, and 7 brothers.
