A Funeral Mass for Juventino Castañeda, 46, of Athens is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church S.E.E.M with Father Nolan Lowry officiating. Interment will follow at the Athens City Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Juventino passed away March 5, 2024, in Tyler.

Juventino Castañeda Betancourth born on December 18, 1977, in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico the son of Juan Castañeda and Raquel Betancourth Castañeda. “Tito” as the grandkids called him, was always working but loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed watching soccer in his free time.

He is preceded in death by his father Juan Castañeda.

Juventino is survived by his mother, Raquel Castañeda of Athens; children, Jimmy Castañeda and wife Karla of Athens, Giselle Castañeda and husband Manuel Barrera of Athens, Jeffrey Castañeda of Athens; six brothers, Jesus Castañeda of Lewisville, Martin Castañeda and wife Elsa of Athens, Adolfo Castañeda and wife Alice of Denton, Fernando Castañeda and wife Monica of Laredo, Roberto Castañeda and wife Claudia of Athens, Juan Castañeda Jr. and wife Gloria of Athens; two sisters, Arcelia Carranza and husband Andreas of Athens, Teresa Carrillo and husband Crescencio of Athens; grandchildren, Amber Nicole Castañeda, Isaac Castañeda, Adilene Barrera, Manuel Barrera Jr., Mateo Barrera, Jaylene Barrera, Jalen Castañeda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Castañeda, Jeffrey Castañeda, Jesus Castañeda, Martin Castañeda, Adolfo Castañeda, Roberto Castañeda, Juan Castañeda, Manuel Barrera.

A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Catholic Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family.

A Juventino le sobreviven su madre, Raquel Castañeda de Athens; hijos, Jimmy Castañeda y esposa Karla de Athens, Giselle Castañeda y esposo Manuel Barrera de Athens, Jeffrey Castañeda de Athens; seis hermanos, Jesús Castañeda de Lewisville, Martín Castañeda y esposa Elsa de Athens, Adolfo Castañeda y esposa Alice de Denton, Fernando Castañeda y esposa Mónica de Laredo, Roberto Castañeda y esposa Claudia de Athens, Juan Castañeda Jr. y esposa Gloria de Athens; dos hermanas, Arcelia Carranza y esposo Andrés de Athens, Teresa Carrillo y esposo Crescencio de Athens; nietos, Amber Nicole Castañeda, Isaac Castañeda, Adilene Barrera, Manuel Barrera Jr., Mateo Barrera, Jaylene Barrera, Jalen Castañeda; y numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas.

Sirviendo como portadores del féretro están Jimmy Castañeda, Jeffrey Castañeda, Jesús Castañeda, Martín Castañeda, Adolfo Castañeda, Roberto Castañeda, Juan Castañeda, Manuel Barrera.

Se llevará a cabo un velorio de 5 a 7:00 p. m. con un Rosario Católico a las 7:00 p.m. el viernes 8 de marzo de 2024 en la funeraria Hannigan Smith.
