Steve T. Woroschuk Obituary

WOROSCHUK – It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Steve Woroschuk, of the Invermay Lodge and formerly of the Usherville and Endeavour area, announce his passing on March 4, 2024. He was 85 years of age.

Steve Thomas Woroschuk was born on February 6, 1939, to Thomas and Mary Woroschuk. He was raised at Usherville and attended Chermoz West School. Steve was married to Marilyn Yurkiw from 1966 to 1985 and they had three children-Tammy, Karlene, and Loewen. Steve was a hard worker, and over the years did a variety of jobs, including working for Fred Czornobay in the bush in the winter, and roadwork and farming in the summer; Simpson Timber in Hudson Bay; and SGI in Regina.

Steve was married to Christina Lys from 1991 to 1994 while living in Regina.

When Steve retired at age 60, he moved back to his roots at Usherville and built a modest home where he could do the things he loved – gardening, hunting, and enjoying nature and the company of close family and friends. Shortly after, Steve suffered a debilitating stroke and after spending time in rehabilitation at Saskatoon City Hospital, Steve lived in accessible housing in Canora, and for the past nine and a half years in the wonderful care of Invermay Lodge. Steve was a proud and loving father and grandfather. He faced the challenges in his life with humility and perseverance. He will be dearly missed.

Steve is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary (Eftoda) Woroschuk; siblings, Doris McCoy, Victoria Klassen, Agness Chenewski, Ann Mulvale, Helen Shewciw, John Woroschuk, as well as three brothers who died in infancy, Harry, William and Metro.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Williams (Freddy Mata) and Karlene (Brent) Britton and grandson, Blake Britton; son, Loewen Woroschuk (Alienia Mitchell) and grandchildren, Kelly and Kyle; brother, Andy Woroschuk; sisters, Verna Baron and Justine Hertlien as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home with Celebrant, Crystal Bailey, leading the service. The poem - Invictus by William Ernest Henley was read by Karlene Britton. Honourary casket bearers were Steve’s brother, Andrew Woroschuk; nephews, Bob Woroschuk and Stanley Chenewski; and friends, Chris Czornobay, Dwight Greba and Bradley Romanchuk. Interment followed in the Etomamie Valley Cemetery with Steve’s son, Loewen Woroschuk; grandson, Blake Britton; and son-in-law, Brent Britton serving as casket bearers.

Memorials may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation as gifts of remembrance.

Arrangements were entrusted to Preeceville Funeral Home.
