<p>Funeral services for Kermit Risch age 91 of Fremont, NE formerly of Howells, NE will be on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Howells, NE with Pastor Raymond T. Doubrava officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery-Howells, NE with a luncheon to follow at the Howells American Legion Hall. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church-Howells and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family suggests memorials to Howells American Legion Post #155 or Howells Fire and Rescue.</p><p><br></p><p>Kermit passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Parkview Home in Dodge, NE.</p><p><br></p><p>Kermit Frederic Risch was born December 28, 1932 to Fred and Marie (Goeller) Risch in Schuyler, NE. He attended Stanton Co. Rural School District #41 through the 5th grade and Howells Public Schools, graduating from Howells High School in 1950. Kermit attended Wayne State College for one year. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He did his basic training at Fr. Riley, KS and spent 18 months in Japan during the Korean Conflict.</p><p><br></p><p>After returning home from the Army, he worked at Risch Implement with his father, Fred Risch, and his uncle, Otto Risch, who together had purchased the Fiala International Harvestor dealership. They sold and serviced IH farm equipment and Zimmatic Irrigation until 1977. After 1977, Kermit ran Risch Inc., a farm supply store until 1988.</p><p><br></p><p>Kermit married Ethelanne Boothe in 1963 and to this union three sons were born; Doyle, Daylin, and Dustin.</p><p><br></p><p>Kermit married Alberta Lines in 1988 and moved to Omaha, the couple later moved to Fremont in 1996.</p><p><br></p><p>Kermit enjoyed dancing and woodworking. In 1999, he started building lighthouses and assembled over 100.
