<p>Anna Frances (nee Feigel) Porta, a longtime resident of Harper Woods, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She was 96 years old.</p><p><br></p><p>Anna was born on November 28, 1927 in Detroit to Joseph and Mary (nee Skripska) Feigel. She later met and married her beloved, Mario Martino Porta. The couple made their first home in Detroit before settling in Harper Woods for over 50 years. Anna worked as a bookkeeper for many years and eventually retired from Grosse Pointe Public Schools. Anna was a woman of faith and found comfort in her Catholic faith during times of both joy and difficulty throughout her life. She always said her Rosary daily and was very devoted to the Virgin Mary. Anna was a long time member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Harper Woods, where she served as a catechism teacher. Anna also enjoyed bowling, reading, and leading her daughter’s Girl Scout troop. Above everything, Anna enjoyed every moment of being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her smile and kindness will truly be missed by all who knew her, but memories of her will continue on in all who loved her.</p><p><br></p><p>Anna is survived by her loving daughter Mary (James) Southway; cherished grandchildren Lisa (William) Spreder and Kevin (Alissa) Southway; beloved great-grandchildren Michael (fiancée Hannah) Caruso, Alex Caruso, David (Jenny) Spreder, Donny Spreder, Bryce Southway, Harper Southway, Hailey Southway, and Hope Southway; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Mario.</p><p><br></p><p>A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11am at St. Ronald Catholic Church in Clinton Township with Rev. William Herman presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:30am at the church.
