Richard Ruggs Obituary

Leonard Richard Ruggs, a longtime resident of Fair Haven, passed away suddenly on March 3, 2024. He was 62 years old.

Richard was born on February 4, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan. He later met and married the love of his life Barbara on July 11, 1992 at the Ubly Dragway. After “I Do” was said, Richard jumped in his race car and drag raced his uncle Rick! He worked for many years as a long distance truck driver for Logistics One LTD, which he always considered his second family. When he wasn’t driving his truck throughout the country, Richard loved drag racing, fishing, running his RC cars, and enjoying a Dr. Pepper while watching his Detroit Lions. Above everything, Richard truly cherished every moment spent with his family and always made sure he was home for the holidays. He truly enjoyed every moment spent as a husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Barbara Ruggs; beloved children Stacey (Mike) Dekun, Stephan Ruggs, and Jeanine O’Connor; cherished grandchildren Abigail (Pumpkin), Emma (Little Butt), Kendall, Bentley, Isiah, Ethan, Layla, Alayna, Shamara, Junior, and Little Richard; dear siblings Dale Ruggs, Ronnie Ruggs, and Brenda Ruggs; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Minnie (Tiny) Welton.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 4-8pm at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be addressed to the family.
