<p>Floyd Thomas Conlin Jr., age 86, of Mountainside, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, February 23rd, 2024. Floyd was born October 16, 1937, to Lillian and Floyd T. Conlin Sr. and grew up in Newark, NJ. He met his much-loved wife Elaine Wargo of Irvington and married in 1959. He resided in Newark, Irvington, Union, and Mountainside NJ throughout his life. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.</p><p><br></p><p>Floyd was all about his family, nothing was more important to him. He was always available to take his children to their after-school activities and help with homework. He continued to do the same with his grandchildren, which he adored and was so proud to talk about to anyone that would listen. He was certified to officiate swim meets for FSPY and represented the team at YMCA Nationals in Florida. Floyd enjoyed fishing, playing cards or dominoes, and sharing a bottle of merlot. He spent his summers at Nomahegan Swim Club in Westfield, watching his children and grandchildren compete, as well as socializing with friends and family. He traveled to Ireland with family and enjoyed exploring the castles and sampling the Guinness. Floyd loved rooting for Penn State football and was also a diehard Yankee fan. </p><p><br></p><p>Floyd worked for the Prudential in Newark and Roseland NJ for 40+ years and still stayed in touch with many of the friends he made there. He was a member of the Army and Air Force National Guard from 1956 to 1964. Floyd loved a good party, telling stories, and making people laugh with a good joke. He was always there when you needed him, day or night. He was a man of few words, but you always knew you were loved. Floyd touched many lives in his 86 years of life and was a role model for all that knew him. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren and he will be dearly missed by all.</p><p><br></p><p>Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Lillian and Floyd T. Conlin Sr. He is survived by Elaine, his beloved wife of 64 years, children Floyd III (Rebecca), Susan (Oscar), Louis (Carlene), sister Carol (Tom), grandchildren Patrick, Floyd IV, Patience, LJ, cousins, nieces, and nephews. </p><p><br></p><p>A celebration of life memorial funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 15th, 2024, at 12pm at Holy Spirit Church, 984 Suburban Road in Union, NJ. The family invites guests to join us for lunch, drinks, and sharing of memories of Floyd's life at Cioffi's Italian Restaurant 929 Stuyvesant Ave, Union, NJ. immediately following the mass. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers please make donations to Summit YMCA Swimming in Summit NJ.
