Inez Miller Taylor Obituary

Inez Miller Taylor, 98, from the Springdale Community, Attala County, MS, passed away on February 29, 2024, due to complications from pneumonia. Inez was born in West, MS on September 19, 1925, to Oran and Lois Miller. She graduated from Kosciusko High School, and was a life-long active member of Springdale Baptist Church. She lived in West until her husband’s job took them to California. She, her husband and children lived in Anaheim, California, until her children were out of high school. She and her husband returned home to West, and settled in their forever home on the family farm where she grew up.

Inez was a Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN, and worked in several hospitals in Attala and Holmes County until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, especially growing tomatoes. She was very meticulous about cleanliness in her home, and her appearance, never missing a hair or nail appointment on Fridays for many years. She loved beautiful flowers, milk chocolate, and her many treasured knick-knacks she collected and received in her life.

Inez was a friend to many, and truly had the best community of friends who looked after her following the death of her husband and son. During her lifetime, she endured many challenges, but persevered and thrived. She was very blessed with wonderful caregivers whom she loved very much. One caregiver stated, “That Ms Inez is a queen.” They treated her as if she truly was a queen, and her family is forever grateful.

She is survived by her granddaughters, Kacey A. Miller (Travis Green) of Prescott, AZ, and Colleen M. Schrant (Michael) of Tucson, AZ, and two cherished great-granddaughters Mackenzie J. Schrant (11) and Madison D. Schrant (8); her stepdaughter, Peggy Taylor Eubanks; nephew, Jeff North (Stacey), of Ridgeland, MS; niece, Jan N. Hogue (Charlie), of Madison, MS; niece, Peggy H. North of Brandon, MS; three great-nephews, John Hartley North, Craig Howard Kirkland (Haleigh), and Robert Clayton Kirkland; and one great-great niece, Magnolia Miles Kirkland; and her beloved and faithful furry companion, Butch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grady Parker Taylor; her first husband, Holland Miller; her three beloved sons, William Holland Miller, Thomas Allen Miller, and James McAfee Miller; and her beloved baby sister whom she named at birth, Carol Jean Miller North.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank her wonderful caregivers Donna Winters and Viola Collins, who took great care of her and loved her for several years; her friends of many years, Edna Love, and John Thornton; hospice nurse and friend, Jackie Tharp; and the physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists at Baptist Medical Center in Kosciusko.

Visitation will be held at Springdale Baptist Church on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 10:00 am, and funeral at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Brister Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Springdale Baptist Church, 28314 Attala Hwy 19, West, MS 39192.
