Margaret Colucci

Margaret Colucci, born on September 10,1923, peacefully passed on to the Lord on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John and Silvia Panarese, who had emigrated from Northern Italy. Margaret was the loving wife of the late John Colucci and nine siblings, all of whom have predeceased her.

Margaret is considered a matriarch of the family, whose home was always a hub of joy and laughter. With her passing, she leaves a legacy of love and kindness that will echo in the hearts of all who knew her. Her passion for making crafts, sewing and crocheting started at a young age and paved the way for her to become an accomplished seamstress later in life. She was also very passionate about the arts and often enjoyed playing the piano by ear, singing and painting or drawing. Margaret loved to cook delicious Italian meals, which she will be remembered for fondly. Whether it was meatballs or homemade pasta, many family members and friends were fortunate to receive one of her homemade Italian dishes, which she would create with love.

Her biggest joy throughout the years was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When she saw any of them her whole face would light up with love and happiness. Margaret was the absolute life of the party, typically being the last person to leave the dance floor. Margaret embraced life to the fullest and her incredible spirit, love of life and amazing sense of humor continued to shine through in her final years. Margaret was a strong and kind woman loved by all who knew her and she will most certainly be missed by many.

Margaret was also a longtime active parishioner, choir member, and employee of St. Benedicts Church in the Bronx where she was known by many for her infamous meatballs coined “Margaret’s Meatballs”. At the rectory she was the resident Chef and attendant of countless clergy members, forming many lasting bonds with fellow parishioners.

Margaret is survived by and will be greatly missed by her three children, seven beloved grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and a great great grandchild. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

Margaret Colucci will be remembered with love and adoration by her family and friends. Her passion, heart, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
