Elizabeth Mae Knox

<p>Elizabeth Mae Knox, the eldest of eight children born to the late Stephen and Frances Schoolfield, was born on April 20, 1938. She was affectionately known as “Sexy,” “Queen,” “Mom,” and “Lizzy” by her family and friends. She departed this life on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at her residence in Horntown, Virginia. </p><p><br></p><p>Elizabeth received her education in the public schools of Worcester County. In later years, she entered the workforce on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. She was employed at Jersey Island Seafood until her retirement. </p><p><br></p><p>Elizabeth was a life-long member of Saint James United Methodist Church in Pocomoke, Maryland. She served her church faithfully until her health began to fail. </p><p><br></p><p>In her leisure, Elizabeth enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and playing board games. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Knox; three daughters, Carolyn Taylor, Diane Taylor, and Virginia Taylor; two sons, Karnes Taylor and Frizdale Knox; and two sisters, Emily Dorsey and Edna Thomas; and two brothers, Stephen Schoolfield and Samuel Schoolfield . </p><p><br></p><p>Elizabeth leaves to cherish her loving memory: six children, Fannie (Larry) Giddens of New Church, VA, Welton Knox of Virginia Beach, VA, Tammy (Harry) Kellam of Pocomoke, MD, Thelma Knox of Atlantic, VA, David (Tara) Knox of Temperanceville, VA, and Renee (Sherwood) Toppin of Horntown, VA; stepdaughter, Joellen (Willie) Stoveall of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; adopted son, William Bowyer of Fruitland, MD; twenty-nine grandchildren, two which she raised as her own, Lorenzo Taylor and Toni Jackson; thirty-four great-grandchildren; eighteen great, great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Knox, Majorie Pitts, and Ernestine Wise; special friend, Avon Mason; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. </p><p><br></p><p>Lovingly submitted, </p><p>The Family</p>
