Garden City- Wanda Holmes Adam Karagoz, 85, died on Thursday February 29, 2024 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born on August 5, 1938 the daughter of Robert “Bob” Garfield & Donna Faye (Millard) Holmes. Bob had an itchy foot so the family moved a lot with many adventures and experiences. Wanda graduated from Holcomb High School. Over the early years she lived in Kansas, Nebraska, Utah and Colorado.

She married Norman Lee Adam in Holcomb on April 7, 1957. She was a farmwife and raised her kids- Robert “Buck”, Valerie, Norman Jeffrey and Craig on the farm at Holcomb. She and Norman started the Ponderosa Turf Farm and operated it as a family until his death in 1980.

In the early 80’s she traveled to Egypt where she rode camels and saw the pyramids. She traveled to Greece and loved the music, food and the people. She visited her Uncle in Paris and made several visits to Turkey where she married Mustafa Karagoz and lived there for a time before returning to Kansas. In the late 80’s she moved to Phoenix to live and work with her son Jeff, taking care of flower departments in several craft stores. She worked a stall at the flea market in Phoenix and she was the Receptionist at Theresa’s Beauty Salon in Apache Junction, Arizona. After she retired she lived near her Mother in Apache Junction. After her Mother’s death she moved back to Kansas in 2019 to be close to her kids.

She is survived by her Children- Robert & Carrie Adam of Houston, Texas and their children- Jonathan, Tanner & Garret, Jim & Valerie Lobmeyer of Leoti and their children- Allyson & Jeremy Temares, Jordan Lobmeyer, Cami Lobmeyer, Bethany Maestas & Eugene Burch and children- Mac Maestas & Miles Maestas, James Adam Lobmeyer, Taryn Lobmeyer, Samantha Lobmeyer, Anthony Lobmeyer and Mason & Jacobi Lobmeyer, Norman Jeffrey Adam of Mesa, Arizona and children- Jaimie Adam and Norman Jeffrey Adam, Craig Adam of Garden City and son- John Steven Smith, Brother- Robert Holmes of Carson City, Nevada and Sister- Sandra & Kurt Dorman of Florence, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband and 3 Grandchildren- Amanda Lobmeyer, Kelly Lobmeyer and Chris Lobmeyer.

Memorial Service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev Mike Collins officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City.
