Winona E. Lord Obituary

Winona Elaine (Springer) Lord 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 2, 2024. She was born in Danforth on December 21, 1931, the daughter of Wesley L. Springer and Ruth (White) Springer.

Noni grew up in Passadumkeag and graduated from Howland High School in 1950. She worked at Eastern Maine General hospital where she loved taking care of the babies in the nursery. She met and married her husband of 54 years, Hugh Lord and they made their first home in Wytopitlock. They moved many times over the years, living in Lee, Bangor, Passadumkeag, Brunswick, Brewer and Enfield and moved out of state to

Ithaca, NY, Barrington, RI and Grafton, MA. They came back to Maine (always their home) and enjoyed many years enjoying life on Cold Stream Pond. They became snowbirds for a time, as well. They met many lifelong friends along the way. Noni worked as bookkeeper at several of the places where they lived. She loved times spent with family the most, planning family reunions and family get-togethers. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and scrapbooking.

She will be greatly missed by her son Vance Lord of Enfield and her daughter Valerie Nicholson of West Enfield, grandchildren Jennifer Cassio and Shane of Waterboro, Wyatt Lord and Kassie of Lincoln and Alyssa Nicholson and Amanda of Elgin, OK. Great grandchildren Lacey Cassio and Xavior, Jason Cassio, Amelia Stone, Lilly, Ellie and Kali Lord along with her brothers Wesley Springer and Sally of Delaware, Thaxter Springer and Alice of Howland and sister-in law Marie Springer of Edinburg. She had many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Hugh, grandson, Jason Sage, son-in-law Scott Nicholson and Donna, brothers and sisters Derwin Springer, Maurice Springer, Deanna Ketch and Barbara Darling.

Special thanks to Margie and the wonderful staff that helped her for the last few months (you know who you are). Your excellent care and compassion is so appreciated.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Montague House in West Enfield

from 2:00 to 4:00 on March 17th. Graveside services will be in the spring. Messages of condolence may be expressed at Winona’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
