Obituary

Madrid Township - Keith “Trippa” Tripp, the “Mayor of Madrid”, 70, of Madrid Township, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, March 4, 2024.

He was born October 17, 1953, at the Old Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, to Clyde R. and Irene P. (Burbank) Tripp.

Keith spent much of his younger years working on the family farm with his siblings where he learned a lot about what hard work really was and how it could pay off. He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, sapping, throwing horseshoes, and getting out on his ATV. Through the years he raised many wild animals, most that were found on the job somewhere, consisting of squirrels, a raccoon, and a skunk- almost. He even helped a fawn make its way to the wood line when mom left it behind. He enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking fish chowder, spaghetti, and baking apple pie. Of course, if he had an apple pie, he also needed his favorite cherry ice cream.

He enjoyed watching the Madrid fireworks at Bill and Peg’s, was a professional “supervisor”, made it a priority to get to the “Family Reunion” at the North New Portland Fair, saw to it that the Demo cars were fixed, and finished off his days with an Old Milwaukee.

Keith is survived by his children, Tammie Tripp and her partner Duff Books and Keith “Bub” Tripp II and his partner Sue Cochran; his love, Kathy Tripp; best friend, Dan Nebor; his siblings, Dot, Harris Jr., Phylis, Erlon, Pat, and June; four grandchildren, the “original Rugrats”: Cordel Howard, Jasmine Tripp and partner Dawson, Alexandria Tripp, and Damien Cochran and his wife, Breanna; two great-grandchildren, the “Rugrats”, Ellie and Ember; and all of his friends of Madrid. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Robert, Louise, Joanne, Gloria, Nancy, and Randy.

A special thank you to Sue for everything she did to take care of Keith.
