Ruth J. Murray

<p>Ruth Joan Murray (nee Gessner) was born on December 31, 1929, at home, 189-09 Station Road, in Flushing, NY to Joseph and Ruth (Bloomer) Gessner. On March 1, 2024, she peacefully departed this world in Newington, CT. </p><p><br></p><p>Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Laurence Murray Jr., and her son, Laurence Murray III. She is survived by her cherished children Laurie Murray, Dean (Anne) Murray, and her grandchildren Lauren (Matt) O’Connor, Laura (Steven) Marlin, Ashley Murray, Ryan Murray, and Jennifer Heffner. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. </p><p><br></p><p>Ruth was a matriarch, regularly hosting holidays, advising her family, as well as raising her children and even grandchildren. Ruth will be remembered by her family and friends for her outstanding understanding, kindness, and dedication in all matters. Outside of her family, she was a passionate about her Williston Park Reformed church, dogs, of which she kept many, and the New York Giants. Ruth will also be remembered as a rather keen card shark. Among other interests, Ruth occupied her time with reading, mah jong, dominoes, cooking, and often dabbled in many other hobbies. </p><p>Ruth's legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the lives she touched. May her soul find eternal peace.</p><p><br></p><p>Wake will be held on Monday, March 4th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 5th at Katsbaan Reformed Church, 1801 Old Kings Highway in Saugerties, NY. Burial will follow.</p><p><br></p><p>In Lieu of flowers donations are appreciated to Katsbaan Church in Saugerties or the Humane Society. </p>
