Margaret Susan Paraskevopoulos Obituary

There's nothing like the hope of resurrection to lift the agonizing spirits of the heavyhearted. But how can we know for sure, some may ask. What gives us such assurance, such unshakable confidence? Those questions have the same answer: the fact of Christ's resurrection. Margaret believed wholeheartedly that Jesus was her Saviour, died for her sins on the cross and rose from the grave and because of that relationship she had with her Lord she knew that she was ready to enjoy life forevermore in God’s kingdom. That day came for Margaret Paraskevopoulos on Sun. March 3rd at 12:30 a.m. as she slipped from this life into her reward with God.

Margaret would often talk about her faith, and loved to communicate it through things she wrote. After Margaret graduated from Ontario Bible College in Toronto with her Bachelor of Education, she discovered two loves, one for her husband whom she met while finishing her degree and her second love was for children which was reflected in puppetry and self-published children’s books.

If one word could describe Margaret’s outlook on life it would be the word “determination.” While she may have struggled with many health issues she never let it defeat her outlook on life. She poured her life in doing what needed to be done for her family and the community where she lived. And I think her determination was found in how she willingly gave of herself to others. I know she left her foot prints on this Pastor’s heart. Like her mother Frieda I found her to be a quiet woman of faith who truly loved God and knew that God loved her too.

I know she must have touched many people during her lifetime as many of her friends, family and church family have reached out to the Paraskevopoulos clan with their kind remarks. Margaret always hoped that one day she would get out of her wheel chair and walk again. She was that determined. Well, Margaret is now walking with the angels in Heaven or as a dear friend shared, maybe even skate boarding with Jesus. As Jesus Himself promised Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. (John 11:25-26). Because Jesus has been raised, we too shall rise! No wonder we get so excited every Easter! No wonder we hold nothing back as we smile and sing and celebrate His miraculous resurrection from the grave! The raising of Jesus the Messiah from the dead has given those of us who trust in Him hope for tomorrow and peace for today. And nothing on this Earth could be better than that.
