The funeral service for Mr. Peter Michael  Abt, 62, of Montevallo, AL and Destin,FL, will be at 2 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with Kenneth Weeks officiating.  Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens.  The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral home.


Mr. Abt passed away peacefully with his family at his side on March 2, 2024, at their lake house in Montevallo.


Mr. Abt was a graduate of Westover High School, Albany,GA and attended Troy University.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Antarctic Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars.  Mr. Abt served as President, Bayside Homeowners Association in Miramar Beach, FL; Board Member of South Walton Utility in Miramar Beach, FL; and volunteered with TIP, Trauma Intervention Program, Okaloosa, Walton and Escambia counties FL.  He was a global traveler with military residences in Christ Church, New Zealand and US Naval McMerdo Station in Antarctica,  Point Mugu Rock, CA, NAS Pensacola, FL and personal residences in Destin, FL and Montevallo, AL.  He enjoyed fishing in Canada and Costa Rica.  Mr. Abt and his wife, Martha Corvette Abt, were married for 20 years and enjoyed traveling with family and friends to US National and State Parks as well several countries in Europe.


Mr. Abt is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Abt and Joyce Heaslett Abt; and his beloved Corgi's, Dutchess and Bella.


Survivors include his wife, Martha Corvette Abt, and Corgi, Sophie; daughters, Carrie Anne Templeton, and granddaughters, Olivia, Evelynne and Luciana, of Ormond Beach, FL, and Katie Ellen Peede and her husband, Brian Peede, and grandchildren, Jackson and Piper, of Las Vegas,NV; sister, Kathryn Abt Watson of Wayland, MI; brothers, Robert and wife, Karen Abt, of Holly Springs, NC, and Richard and wife, Debra Abt, of Tallahassee, FL; brother-in-law, John Emil Corvette III of Fishers, IN; nieces, Kristen Cross, Lily (AJ) Dowers, Kathryn (John) Luidens, and Abi Abt; nephews, Ashley (Noni) Abt, Austin Abt, Gregory (Sydney) Watson. and William Abt; aunt, Nancy Heaslett Hand of Anniston,AL; and cousins, Neal and Ann Marie Heaslett of Memphis, TN, Jonathan and Lianne Hand of Birmingham, AL and David and Marleia Hand of Jacksonville, FL.


Pallbearers will be nephews Ashley, Austin, Gregory and William.
