Rita E. Fidrych

Rita (Larochelle) Fidrych passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the age of 97. Born in Northbridge, MA, to Eugene and Bernadette (Brochu) Larochelle, she lived in Pascoag since 1951. After raising her family, Rita worked at several local companies before becoming a seamstress at Zambarano Memorial Hospital, a job that she enjoyed for many years before retiring.

A life well lived in service to others, she loved her faith and the church community at St. Joseph's in Pascoag, remaining active in the parish until late in life.

Rita leaves three children: Joseph (Susan) of Pascoag, Cynthia (Ken) Reisenbuchler of Dayton, OH and Stephen (Mary-Louise) of Westford, MA, as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Walter "Gus" Fidrych and daughter Ann Marie, who died in infancy. One of ten siblings, she was also predeceased by brothers: Joseph, Raymond, Gerard, Philip, Alphonse and Henry and sisters: Doris Rainville, Theresa Rainville and Hedwidge "Widgie" Simon.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rita will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 183 Sayles Ave., Pascoag. All who attend will be greeted at the church by Rita's family, prior to the Mass, from 10:30 to 11 AM. Burial will follow the Mass in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Pascoag Main St., Pascoag.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 183 Sayles Ave., Pascoag, RI 02859 or Altzheimer's Association Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman Ave., Ste. 306, Providence, RI 02906-5215. Much thanks to the staff at life Care Center-Nashoba Valley, where for the last two years, Rita was well cared for.
